Cairo, Oct. 20 (Petra) -- Secretary-General of the Arab League, Nabil Fahmy, affirmed Tuesday that Lebanon’s security and stability remain an integral component of Arab national security, stressing the need to intensify Arab and international efforts to halt Israeli aggression, end the occupation of Lebanese territory, and support state institutions in extending their authority over all national territory.
Fahmy made his remarks during a field visit to South Lebanon on Tuesday to assess security and humanitarian conditions amid ongoing Israeli attacks, reiterating the Arab League's support for Lebanon and its people during the current crisis.
Accompanied by Lebanese Minister of Social Affairs, Haneen Sayed, the visit covered the Zahrani area, the town of Zawtar al-Gharbiya, and the Lebanese Army command headquarters for the South Litani sector in Tyre. During the tour, Fahmy was briefed on field developments, ongoing Israeli violations, and damage to homes, facilities, and infrastructure across southern towns and villages.
During a briefing on the Lebanese Army's operations under current conditions, military leaders warned of security risks and potential instability should the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) withdraw, underscoring the necessity of strengthening army capabilities to fulfill its mandate in the coming phase.
