Cairo, Nov. 4 (Petra) - Arab Parliament President Saad Otaibi called on Wednesday for unified Arab action, legislative coordination, and joint parliamentary diplomacy to address growing regional threats during the 20th regular meeting of the Speakers of the Shura, Representatives, National, and Ummah Councils of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), hosted by Saudi Arabia.
In his opening address, Otaibi said that Gulf stability is integral to broader Arab national security, voicing the Arab Parliament's rejection of Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia's civilian sites, airports, holy places, and economic infrastructure. He voiced support for Saudi Arabia's sovereign security measures. Otaibi warned that disruptions to international navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandab endanger the global economy, adding that safeguarding strategic waterways remains a shared "international obligation." He concluded by stating the Arab Parliament's commitment to protecting Arab sovereignty and advocating for the legitimate rights of Palestinians.
