Cairo, March 18 (Petra) – Arab Parliament Speaker Mohammed Al-Yamahi on Wednesday condemned Iran's blatant attacks on a number of Arab countries, which are in disregard of the international law and the UN Charter and directly threaten regional and international peace and security.
In a statement, Al-Yamahi said targeting residential areas, civilian facilities, and vital infrastructure, and causing the deaths of innocent civilians is an attack on the sovereignty of Arab states, a serious violation of international humanitarian law and a direct threat to civilian lives.
"This blatant aggression constitutes a direct and comprehensive threat to Arab national security, and will only bring the region more chaos and instability and push it to the brink of explosion," the Speaker said.
He emphasized that the security of Arab states is indivisible, and that any attack on an Arab state is an attack on the entire Arab nation.
Ai-Yamahi added that Arab states are neither arenas to settle scores, nor will they accept threats to the lives of their citizens under any pretext or justification.
He called on Iran to immediately cease hostile actions against Arab states that are not party to any conflict, and stressed the need to respect their sovereignty and adhere to the principles of good neighborliness.
The Arab Parliament head commended the vigilance and efficiency of the armed forces of Arab states that came under attack, and their professional management in confronting them, which reflects their readiness and a deterrent capability to protect their territories and resources.
He reiterated the Parliament's full and unequivocal support of all legitimate measures taken by these states to preserve their security and sovereignty and counter attacks, based on their inherent right to self-defense.
