Amman, March 26 (Petra) – First Deputy Speaker of the Lower House of Representatives, Dr. Khamis Atieh, affirmed His Majesty King Abdullah II is leading "effective" diplomatic efforts at the regional and international levels, which have contributed to strengthening Jordan's position and consolidating its presence in various forums.

Atieh added that this endeavor is achieved by defending the Arab causes and building a "robust" network of international relations, based on mutual respect and shared interests, in accordance with international law.

His remarks came during his speech on Thursday at the opening ceremony of "Parliamentary Diplomacy" workshop, organized by the Westminster Foundation for Democracy, in cooperation with UN Women and the Jordanian Diplomatic Institute.

"Jordan, with its leadership, army, security forces, and people, will remain "steadfast and resilient" in facing any threats to its security and stability, and invincible to all attempts to undermine it, emphasizing the rejection of any aggression against Arab states," he pointed out.

He stressed the Palestinian cause will remain Jordan's "central" issue, reaffirming the Kingdom's "unwavering" support for the Palestinian people's right to establish their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.

In this context, he noted Jordnan rejects any attempts to impose new realities or infringe upon Islamic and Christian holy sites, amid the ongoing violations and international silence.

He noted the pivotal and diplomatic model presented by His Majesty the King in international forums, as a voice for justice, which requires places a "more effective and prominent" parliamentary diplomacy.

He stated this specialized workshop represents an "important" step in enhancing parliamentary capabilities in the areas of dialogue and international communication, which contribute to developing parliamentary diplomacy tools amid the rapid transformations and the world's current increasing challenges.

Additionally, he noted the event enables parliamentarians to represent Jordan honorably and defend its positions in various forums.

Concluding his speech, he commended the partnership with the organizing bodies, emphasizing the importance of continuing and strengthening cooperation to contribute to the development of the parliamentary system, in line with the Kingdom's vision for political modernization.
