Amman, Oct. 28 (Petra) - The Ministry of Environment welcomed on Wednesday the Jordan River Foundation's (JRF) official accreditation by the Green Climate Fund (GCF), calling it a "national achievement" that expands the Kingdom's direct access to international climate finance.
The ministry stated that the accreditation resulted from close collaboration between JRF and the ministry, which serves as the GCF's National Designated Authority in Jordan.
The effort showcases both institutions' commitment to managing climate funds in alignment with global governance, transparency, and socio-environmental standards.
JRF's accreditation enhances national ownership of climate projects and ensures that international funding directly targets local priorities. The initiative focuses on building community resilience, supporting vulnerable groups, including women and youth, and boosting sustainable livelihoods.
By diversifying accredited national entities, Jordan expands its capacity to secure international grants and implement innovative climate adaptation and mitigation strategies.
The ministry voiced its commitment to supporting national institutions as Jordan works toward its long-term environmental and sustainable development goals.
