Amman, June 27 (Petra) – Deputy Premier and Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Ayman Safadi and Lebanese Foreign Minister Youssef Raji discussed on the telephone on Saturday developments in Lebanon following a US-brokered framework agreement signed by Lebanon and Israel on Friday.
During a phone call, Safadi said Jordan welcomes the deal as an important step that supports Lebanon's security and stability and efforts to assert its sovereignty over all of Lebanon.
He stressed the need to build on the deal to achieve a full Israeli withdrawal from all occupied Lebanese territory and fully implement UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
Safadi reiterated Jordan's unwavering support of Lebanon's security, stability, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the safety of its citizens. He also said Jordan stands by the Lebanese government's efforts to assert its sovereignty over all of Lebanon, reactivate national institutions, and ensure that weapons are solely in the hands of the state.
He also hailed Washington's role in reaching the agreement.
