Amman, Apr. 9 (Petra)-- Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs, Ayman Safadi, on Thursday warned of the "catastrophic consequences" of the continuation of the Israeli attacks on Lebanon, stressing their impact on efforts aimed at de-escalating the dangerous situation in the region.

During a series of phone calls with his counterparts including German Foreign Minister Johann David Wadephul, Portuguese Foreign Minister Paulo Rangel, UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot, and Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide Safadi underscored the urgent need for immediate international action to halt the aggression.

He emphasized that the ongoing attacks constitute a violation of international law and international humanitarian law, warning that they are pushing the region toward further chaos and conflict.

Safadi also held consultations with several counterparts to coordinate efforts to deliver immediate and sufficient humanitarian aid to Lebanon. The assistance aims to support the Lebanese government in addressing the needs of more than one million people displaced from their homes and towns as a result of the Israeli strikes.

Reaffirming Jordan’s firm stance, Safadi stressed the Kingdom’s full solidarity with Lebanon’s security and stability. He also reiterated support for the Lebanese government’s efforts to assert sovereignty over all its territory and ensure that weapons remain exclusively in the hands of the state.
