Amman, March 31 (Petra) – Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi met on Tuesday with German Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Reem Alabali Radovan on economic cooperation and regional developments.
Safadi and Alabali Radovan discussed expanding cooperation programmes between Jordan and Germany in key sectors, particularly water and vocational training.
Safadi praised Germany's continued support for development projects in Jordan and its assistance in addressing the impact of regional crises.
The talks covered efforts to de-escalate tensions with Iran and restore security and stability in the region based on principles that uphold international law, good neighbourliness and regional security.
The top diplomats called for diplomacy to end escalation and safeguard regional and international peace.
Safadi reviewed the situation in occupied Gaza and the occupied West Bank, calling for intensified efforts to halt illegal Israeli measures that undermine the two-state solution and prospects for a just and lasting peace.
He warned against continued restrictions on freedom of worship for Muslims and Christians in the occupied Palestinian territories, as well as actions that violate the historical and legal status quo of holy sites in occupied Jerusalem.
He called for supporting the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) to ensure it can continue its vital role across its five areas of operation, expressing appreciation for Germany's support of the agency.
