Amman, July 20 (Petra) -- The Lower House Foreign Affairs Committee condemned Iran's violation of Jordanian territory and airspace, calling it a blatant and unacceptable act of aggression that warrants a firm international response for its flagrant breach of international law and the principles of good neighborliness.
In a statement issued on Monday, the committee said Jordan, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, will not allow its territory or airspace to be used as an arena for settling regional disputes, stressing that the kingdom's sovereignty and the safety of its citizens are red lines that cannot be compromised or treated with leniency.
The committee said the Jordanian state and its institutions possess the determination and readiness to protect the country's borders and preserve the independence of its decision-making, praising the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army and the security services for their professionalism in confronting any threat to the kingdom's security.
The committee also called on the international community to assume its responsibilities in addressing what it described as violations that threaten regional stability, adding that Jordan's commitment to de-escalation and prudent diplomacy should not be interpreted as acceptance of any infringement on its security or sovereignty.
