Amman, July 2 (Petra) -- The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply has signed an agreement with the King Abdullah II Center for Excellence (KACE) to launch and implement the first edition of the Inspection Unit Excellence Award for 2026.

The initiative is designed to foster healthy competition among regulatory bodies, promote modern inspection practices based on best standards, and improve the efficiency and quality of oversight operations. It also aims to enhance resource management and raise the performance level of inspection teams, ultimately strengthening public confidence in regulatory systems and service delivery.

Under the agreement, the King Abdullah II Center for Excellence will take charge of the technical framework of the award, including developing and approving evaluation criteria, preparing participation tools, training assessors, and overseeing all stages of assessment in line with principles of integrity, transparency, and neutrality. The evaluation process will include desk reviews, field assessments, arbitration stages, and final reporting.

The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply will support implementation by coordinating with participating entities, promoting the award, organizing capacity-building and training programs, and overseeing the closing ceremony where winners will be announced.

Both sides said the initiative is part of national efforts to advance the inspection system across economic activities, embed a culture of institutional excellence, and encourage continuous improvement and adoption of international best practices. The goal is to enhance government service quality and improve the overall business environment.

The award’s first edition includes two main categories: ministries, institutions, and regulatory bodies covering 10 entities with 24 inspection units, and municipalities covering 13 municipalities, ensuring broad participation and promoting a culture of excellence across entities involved in inspection and regulatory work.
