Beirut, April 12 (Petra) -- The Lebanese Civil Defense said Sunday that two Israeli airstrikes targeting the towns of Maaroub and Qana in southern Lebanon left 14 people killed and several others injured.

A Lebanese security source told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that the strikes formed part of a broader escalation, with Israeli warplanes also targeting Bint Jbeil, Arzoun, and Abbasiyeh. The source added that the town of At-Tiri was struck with phosphorus munitions.

Further aerial raids hit Khirbet Selm and Kounine in the Bint Jbeil district, while artillery shelling targeted the town of Mansouri in the Tyre district, according to the same source.
