Amman, Feb. 27 (Petra)-- The Israeli Supreme Court on Friday issued a decision freezing the government’s ban on 37 foreign humanitarian and relief organizations operating in Gaza and the occupied West Bank, pending a final ruling.

The court’s decision came in response to a petition filed by the aid organizations, including Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) and Oxfam, seeking the cancellation of the ban after the Israeli government revoked their operating permits, according to the Palestinian news agency WAFA.

The court issued a temporary injunction allowing the organizations to continue their activities for the time being.

However, the ruling is limited to freezing the existing situation. The organizations will not be permitted to rotate their staff or bring in new equipment or medical supplies into Gaza or the West Bank during this interim period.

Justice Daphne Barak-Erez stated that the decision is temporary and does not aim to "change the current situation or grant additional rights." She also scheduled a hearing on the petition to take place as soon as possible.

On December 30, 2025, 37 international organizations were notified that their registration with the Israeli authorities had expired and that they were given 60 days to renew it by submitting a list of their Palestinian employees.

Failure to comply would require the organizations to cease all operations in the occupied Palestinian territories as of March 1.
