Amman, Sept. 20 (Petra) -- Jordan Industrial Estates Co (JIEC) took part in a workshop held as part of the conference hosted by Cairo and organized by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), titled: "Transition from Industrial Cities to Environmentally Friendly Cities." The JICE, in a statement Sunday, said the workshop aimed to identify key focal points and priority gaps, and study regulatory, institutional and financial measures for applying the concept of sustainable industrial zones nationwide.
The event also sought to prepare a shared national vision and an "executable" roadmap for developing and upgrading these zones.
Talking at the conference, JICE's representative, Bassam al-Helo, presented Jordan's experience in transitioning to environmentally friendly city models, describing it as a "unique, pioneering" effort guided by royal directives.
He reviewed the four pillars of the JICE's plan, adopted by the industrial estates and implemented over the past six years in the Zarqa and Salt industrial cities.
