Amman, July 21 (Petra) - The Jordanian referee team returned home via Queen Alia International Airport on Tuesday following a "historic" run at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the Canada, Mexico, and US.
The trio comprised international referee Adham Makhadmeh and assistant referees Mohammad Bakar and Ahmad Ruwaili.
During the tournament, FIFA appointed the crew to officiate 4 matches: Spain vs. Cape Verde and New Zealand vs. Belgium in the group stage, England vs. Democratic Republic of the Congo in the Round of 32, and the US vs. Belgium in the Round of 16.
The crew capped off their World Cup run with appointments to the final match, AFTER FIFA named Makhadmeh as the fourth official and Bakar as the reserve assistant referee.
The 2026 World Cup marked the first time a Jordanian served as a head referee at the tournament.
