Amman, Aug. 26 (Petra) -- Jordan's exports to Kenya reached around $54 million in the first five months of 2026, compared with $2 million in the same period last year, as businesses from both countries explore opportunities to expand trade and industrial partnerships.
Jordan Chamber of Industry (JCI) President Fathi Jaghbir said the figures reflect growing economic ties between the two countries and point to further potential for Jordanian companies in the Kenyan market.
His remarks came during a meeting organized by the chamber with representatives of Kenya’s manufacturing sector, attended by Jordan’s commercial and economic attaché in Nairobi, Maram Makhamreh.
Jaghbir said the growth in exports provides a basis for broadening bilateral economic relations beyond trade, with opportunities to develop joint industrial and investment projects.
He called for stronger direct links between manufacturers and businesses in both countries, alongside greater exchange of expertise and cooperation in developing products that meet market demand.
Pharmaceuticals, garments, chemicals and food industries were identified as sectors with potential for increased cooperation between Jordanian and Kenyan companies.
Jaghbir said closer private-sector engagement could help identify viable opportunities and translate them into partnerships that generate added value for both economies.
He also highlighted Africa’s growing importance in Jordan’s efforts to diversify export destinations, saying greater access to African markets could support industrial exports and strengthen the competitiveness of Jordanian products.
The chamber is working to open new channels for Jordanian manufacturers across the continent and is prepared to facilitate contacts between Jordanian companies and potential Kenyan partners, he added.
Jaghbir called for building on the recent growth in bilateral trade to expand the presence of Jordanian products in Kenya and encourage investment partnerships between businesses in the two countries.
The meeting included business-to-business talks between members of the Kenyan delegation and representatives of Jordanian factories and industrial companies.
Discussions focused on trade and industrial cooperation, potential partnerships and the exchange of expertise, with the aim of establishing direct business links and creating new opportunities for companies in both markets.
