Beirut, Mar. 13 (Petra)-- The Lebanese government announced that the number of people displaced by the ongoing Israeli offensive has surpassed one million.
Official estimates indicate that the current crisis is affecting around 1.3 million people across the country. Children make up nearly half of those impacted, while women account for more than 50 percent of the total affected population.
The announcement was made during a press conference held by Social Affairs Minister Haneen Al-Sayed, attended by United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, ambassadors from donor countries, and representatives of international organizations and UN agencies.
The meeting aimed to mobilize international support and coordinate the humanitarian response to the rapidly worsening situation.
On the ground, Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health reported in its latest update that the total number of fatalities since March 2 has reached 773, while 1,933 people have been injured.
Authorities warned that these figures could continue to rise as military operations persist.
