MCH's 2nd medical conference to discuss 89 research papers

Amman, August 27 (Petra) – The second international medical conference of Maqasid Charity Hospital (MCH), affiliated with the Zakat Fund, began Thursday, under the theme: "Innovation and Excellence in Healthcare Towards a More Sustainable Medical Future." The event, which will continue through next Saturday, features participation of experts, consultants, academics, and researchers from within Jordan and abroad.

Deputizing for Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Mohammad Khalaileh, the opening ceremony was held under the auspices of Chairman of the Board of Directors of the hospital and Director General of the Zakat Fund , Dr. Abdul Smirat.

Dr. Smirat stated the Ministry and the Zakat Fund give "special" attention to health endowments as a "sustainable" development tool that provides healthcare for future generations.

He noted that the event reflects the hospital's commitment to scientific research and exchange of expertise and ideas, aimed to serve the Kingdom's health sector.

On its role, he said the hospital serves as the medical arm of the Zakat Fund, providing healthcare to various segments of society, particularly the poor, the needy, and orphans.

He underlined MCH's mission also seeks to establish the concept of social solidarity and sustainable healthcare endowments.

He noted that the hospital, which has approximately 90 beds and offers services in most medical specialties, continues to develop and expand its services.

Noting the recent expansion, he said the operation included approximately 1,500 square meters and addition of new dialysis units, referring to the ongoing organization of free medical days nationwide, which enhances access to healthcare in remote areas and impoverished communities.

For his part, Dr. Bassam Shloul, the hospital's Director General , stated that the conference is an extension of the hospital's medical and humanitarian mission and aligns with its policy to continuing medical education.

He said this effort aims to raise efficiency of medical staff, exchange expertise, and keep pace with the latest developments in the medical world.

He added that the conference represents a scientific platform for enhancing cooperation and expanding professional networks across various disciplines, which would develop healthcare quality and promote concepts of quality and sustainability.

Dr. Abdul Karim Abadi, Head of the Conference's Scientific Committee, announced the scientific program features 89 research papers presented by a select group of physicians and experts, both in person and remotely.

Presented by a "wide" range of specialties, he said the papers address the latest medical developments, promote scientific dialogue, and raise level of care provided to patients.
