Amman, March 26 (Petra)-- The Lower House Energy and Mineral Resources Committee, headed by MP Ayman Abu Hanieh, conducted a field visit on Thursday to the Jordan Petroleum Refinery as part of an oversight tour aimed at reviewing operations and strategic plans to ensure the continued production of petroleum derivatives and stable supply to the local market.

Abu Hanieh said the visit falls within the committee’s ongoing efforts to monitor national institutions operating in the energy sector. He stressed that the refinery represents a cornerstone of national energy security and market stability, highlighting its key role in supporting the national economy amid regional and global challenges.

For their part, MPs Rakin Abu Hanieh and Naseem Al-Abadi underscored the importance of the refinery’s operational role, emphasizing the need to strengthen the readiness of the energy sector and maintain sufficient strategic reserves of petroleum products to address any emergencies and ensure uninterrupted supply to citizens.

Meanwhile, Refinery Director Ibrahim Al-Mashaqbeh stated that the company is operating under daily operational and strategic plans that guarantee continued production at high efficiency.

He affirmed that strategic reserves of fuel and materials are in a secure position and sufficient to handle various scenarios, reassuring citizens that there is no cause for concern.

He added that the refinery continues to upgrade production lines and enhance safety and operational efficiency standards in line with developments in regional and international markets.

At the conclusion of the visit, both the committee and refinery management stressed that there is no need for panic buying or stockpiling of fuel products or gas cylinders.

They confirmed that supplies are stable and that strategic reserves are sufficient to meet local market demand without interruption, calling on citizens to act responsibly and avoid behavior that could place unnecessary pressure on supply chains.
