Amman, June 26 (Petra)-- Director of the Public Security Directorate (PSD), Maj. Gen. Obaidallah Al-Maaytah, participated in the 14th St. Petersburg International Legal Forum, organized by Russia's Ministry of Justice with broad participation from security leaders, legal officials, and experts from around the world.
Addressing the forum, Al-Maaytah stressed that contemporary security and legal challenges require stronger international cooperation and the development of strategic partnerships among law enforcement and justice institutions. He said such cooperation is essential for combating transnational crime, addressing emerging threats, strengthening the rule of law, and promoting the exchange of expertise and best practices to build more efficient and effective security and judicial systems.
He noted that Jordan's Public Security Directorate, with the continued support of the Hashemite leadership, is implementing a comprehensive modernization strategy focused on institutional development, the integration of advanced technologies and artificial intelligence across policing and security operations, and investment in human capital through training based on the highest professional standards. These efforts, he said, enhance the readiness of security agencies and their ability to respond to rapidly evolving challenges.
Al-Maaytah added that exchanging successful experiences among law enforcement agencies is a cornerstone of improving security and judicial performance. He emphasized that security and stability are a shared responsibility requiring greater coordination, integration, and sustainable partnerships among countries and relevant institutions to protect societies, safeguard rights and freedoms, and strengthen public confidence in security and judicial institutions.
On the sidelines of the forum, Al-Maaytah met with Dmitry Aristov, Director of Russia's Federal Bailiff Service. The two sides discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation and exchange expertise in areas of mutual interest, with the aim of improving institutional performance, increasing operational efficiency, and strengthening coordination between the two agencies.
Both officials underscored the importance of maintaining communication and advancing joint mechanisms of cooperation to serve mutual interests and support efforts to strengthen justice and security systems in line with international best practices and standards.
