Amman, Aug. 30 (Petra) -- The Jordanian Marathon Association (Run Jordan) has opened registration for the 16th Bromine Amman Marathon, set to take place on Friday, October 2, under the patronage of HRH Prince Firas bin Raad.
Held under the slogan "Run in the Heart of Amman," the 2026 event will bring together professional and amateur runners from Jordan and abroad for a series of races through the capital, combining competitive running with community participation and promoting Amman as a sports and tourism destination.
This year’s marathon carries added significance after receiving the World Athletics Road Race Label for the second consecutive year. The Red Sea Half Marathon also secured the 2026 label, reflecting continued progress in the technical and organizational standards of races staged by Run Jordan and strengthening their presence on the international running calendar.
Registration this year is being conducted through an upgraded system linked to the Civil Status and Passports Department to verify participant information and streamline the process. The upgrade is part of Run Jordan’s efforts to expand digital services and improve the runners’ experience from registration through race day.
Run Jordan Director General Lina Al-Kurd said the opening of registration marks a new phase of preparations for the marathon, inviting runners of all levels and abilities to participate.
She said securing the World Athletics classification for a second consecutive year represents an important milestone in the marathon’s development and provides further impetus to enhance the event’s technical and organizational standards in line with international requirements.
The race program includes the individual 42.195-kilometer marathon, a relay over the same distance, a 21-kilometer half marathon and a 10-kilometer race. Dedicated categories will also be available for participants with mobility disabilities and runners who are fully or partially visually impaired.
Participants can register online through Run Jordan’s official registration platform or in person at the association’s office in Amman.
The association is also offering a delivery service for online registrants to facilitate the receipt of race materials and make the participation process more convenient.
Run Jordan called on runners from Jordan and abroad to register for the October event and take part in the 16th edition of the marathon.
