Senate President offers condolences over martyrs of Karak church attack, stresses national unity

Amman, Oct. 25 (Petra) -- Senate President Faisal Fayez and members of the Senate offered their condolences on Sunday to the families of the national martyrs who died in a cowardly terrorist attack targeting the Hmoud Church in Karak. Fayez also joined citizens in attending the martyrs' funeral procession.

In press statements, Fayez stated that the martyrs who fell in this heinous crime belong to the entire nation, emphasizing that whoever targeted them targeted Jordan as a whole. He noted that the crime was not merely an attack on Christians but an assault on Jordanian society, national unity, shared history, and common destiny.

The Senate President stressed that this terrorist act will only increase Jordanians' resolve to combat forces of terrorism, extremism, and fanaticism, ensuring Jordan remains resilient against any attempts to disrupt its security.

Fayez stated that the attack flagrantly contradicts Jordanian values, heavenly religions, and noble human principles, adding that its objective was to undermine national cohesion. He emphasized that in Jordan, the focus extends beyond peaceful coexistence to an eternal Islamic-Christian national unity.

He affirmed that this cowardly act will not shake Jordan's resolve or internal front cohesion, highlighting statements by His Majesty King Abdullah II during a visit to inspect the wounded, where His Majesty reaffirmed that Jordan will confront this condemned act forcefully. Fayez recalled His Majesty's words that Jordanian blood is precious, the state will strike with an iron fist against anyone who targets the country, and the hand of justice will reach every terrorist.

Fayez commended the efforts of security agencies in confronting those attempting to compromise the Kingdom's security and stability. He asserted that desperate attempts to sow discord will break against the awareness and unity of the Jordanian people, who stand united behind His Majesty King Abdullah II.

He reiterated that His Majesty King Abdullah II emphasized that the security of Jordanians is a red line, there will be no leniency regarding Jordanian lives, and the state will strike with an iron fist against anyone attempting to tamper with national unity.
