New York, March 10 (Petra) – Minister of Social Development Wafa Bani Mustafa presented Jordan's efforts to promote women's rights and access to justice during a ministerial roundtable at the 70th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women in New York on Tuesday.
Bani Mustafa, the Head of the Ministerial Committee for Women’s Empowerment, said Jordan's efforts stem from a comprehensive national reform vision that places women at the centre of development and decision-making.
She added that the Kingdom has adopted legislation to combat domestic violence, strengthened reporting mechanisms and trained judges and service providers to handle such cases.
She dicussed initiatives to expand specialised services for women, enhance protection systems and empower women economically through social protection programmes and support for small and medium-sized enterprises.
Bani Mustafa called for ensuring justice for women affected by wars and conflicts and urged stronger international cooperation to protect women, children and civilians.
On the sidelines of the session, she met with Moroccan Minister of Solidarity, Social Integration and Family Naïma Ben Yahya and President of Egypt's National Council for Women Amal Ammar to discuss enhancing cooperation and exchanging expertise in women’s empowerment and protection from violence.
