Amman, March 31 (Petra) -- A gradual rise in temperatures is setting the stage for a midweek shift toward unstable weather conditions across the Kingdom, the Jordan Meteorological Department said on Tuesday.

Tuesday’s weather brings a noticeable but modest uptick in temperatures, with sunny skies and mild conditions prevailing across most regions, while warmer air dominates the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba. Low clouds remain confined to northern areas, with light westerly winds.

The warming trend is expected to strengthen on Wednesday, pushing temperatures slightly above seasonal averages. Conditions will turn broadly warm across much of the Kingdom, particularly in the Badia and low-lying areas, as cloud cover begins to build at medium and high altitudes.

By evening, the weather pattern is forecast to pivot, as atmospheric instability develops across the Kingdom. Cloud cover will expand, with scattered rainfall expected in western regions and the possibility of thunderstorms. Winds will shift to southeasterly and become more active at times, stirring dust across parts of the south and east.

Unsettled conditions are expected to carry into Thursday, with partly to mostly cloudy skies and mild temperatures over the highlands, contrasted by warmer conditions elsewhere. Scattered showers are likely across northern and central regions, extending to parts of the southwest and east, with thunder possible during the morning hours. Rain chances are expected to gradually taper off by evening, while southwesterly winds strengthen, with occasional gusts raising dust, particularly in desert areas.

A slight easing in temperatures is forecast for Friday, bringing conditions back in line with seasonal norms. Mild weather will prevail across most regions, while warmer conditions persist in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba, under partly cloudy skies and moderate northwesterly winds that may become active at times.

Temperature ranges today underscore regional contrasts, with highs and lows of 18 C and 10 C in East Amman, compared with 16 C and 8 C in West Amman. Northern highlands are forecast at 15 C to 7 C, and the Sharah highlands at 14 C to 6 C.

The Badia will see 22 C to 10 C, while the plains register 19 C to 11 C. The northern Jordan Valley is expected at 24 C to 14 C, rising to 28 C to 17 C in the southern valley. The Dead Sea will record 27 C to 16 C, and Aqaba 28 C to 18 C.
