Baghdad, March 17 (Petra) -- The United States Embassy in Baghdad was targeted Tuesday evening by a drone attack within the Green Zone.

According to Baghdad police command, the drone struck the embassy building located in the government complex inside the Green Zone in central Baghdad. The C-RAM air defense system intercepted the attack, neutralizing the explosive-laden drone near the embassy.

The attack comes amid a rise in assaults on critical facilities and diplomatic missions in Baghdad, particularly involving drones and rockets, highlighting a notable deterioration of security in the Iraqi capital.
