Amman, Oct. 12 (Petra) - Minister of Government Communication Mohammad Momani said on Monday that youth and community initiatives serve as a practical model for active development, helping translate local needs into tangible projects.
Momani, meeting with the Center for Sustainable Development Brokers in Ajloun, called for building a supportive environment that enables young entrepreneurs to develop and sustain their initiatives.
Sustainable development relies on integrated collaboration among government entities, local communities, civil society organizations, and the private sector, according to the minister. He added that empowering this partnership creates broader opportunities and capitalizes on the unique economic advantages of Jordan’s governorates.
Turning to community media, he urged investing in human capital and leveraging digital platforms to help media institutions adapt to rapid technological shifts while maintaining their professional and social mission.
Echoing these views, Ministry Secretary-General Zaid Nawaiseh described local radio stations in the governorates as comprehensive media platforms that drive regional development.
He said that community radio supports primary sectors such as agriculture, tourism, vocational training, and cultural exchange, making its continuity essential for amplifying citizens' voices.
The Center for Sustainable Development Brokers representatives, for their part, called for greater political and media empowerment for youth, advocating for wider participation in public decision-making and funding for interactive media platforms.
The delegation called on the government to accelerate the establishment of fully equipped technology hubs in outer governorates to build youth skills in technology, civic participation, and job market readiness.
They recommended expanding specialized, cost-free digital media and content-creation training programs for students and recent graduates to improve their practical experience and career prospects.
