Irbid, Oct. 20 (Petra) -- Head of the Greater Irbid Municipality Committee, Imad Al-Azzam, signed an agreement on Tuesday with the Othman Al-Washahi Company to execute a tender valued at nearly JD1 million to construct rainwater drainage lines across several city streets and areas, aimed at mitigating water accumulation and improving drainage efficiency.
Assistant to the Municipal President for Engineering Affairs, Tahani Hazaimeh, stated that the tender targets locations that experienced drainage issues during the previous winter season, including the installation of main conveyers at valley outlets.
Hazaimeh noted that the project aligns with municipal infrastructure upgrade plans to eliminate waterlogging, emphasizing that all works will adhere to approved general and technical specifications. The initiative aims to enhance network performance, safeguard lives and public and private property against flash flood risks, and ensure smooth traffic flow during the winter season.
Director of the Tenders and Assessments Directorate at the municipality, Enas Haddad, explained that the project's execution period is set at 175 calendar days from the date the contractor receives the work order.
Haddad added that field operations will commence shortly under high-quality standards to ensure completion within the designated timeframe. She affirmed that the municipality will oversee all execution phases to ensure full compliance with technical specifications and strengthen municipal infrastructure readiness ahead of winter rainfalls.
