Amman, Oct. 29 (Petra) -- Silver prices fell to their lowest levels since November 2025 on Thursday, pressured by growing expectations that US interest rates may be raised again amid persistent inflation driven by higher energy prices, as investors await US inflation data for clearer signals on the monetary policy path.
Silver dropped to $52.58 an ounce, marking a 48-week low, after the white metal lost about 13 percent of its value over the past four weeks, reflecting mounting pressure on precious metals as rate expectations shift, according to CNN. Data showed silver fell 12.89 percent over the past four weeks while still holding gains of 7.47 percent over the last 12 months, highlighting the divergence between its short-term performance and its movement over the past year.
Silver faces increasing pressure as prospects of US monetary tightening persist, with higher interest rates typically boosting the appeal of yield-bearing assets such as bonds and deposits compared with precious metals, which offer no periodic return.
