Ramallah, Nov. 8 (Petra) - Israeli President Isaac Herzog tasked Yashar party leader Gadi Eisenkot on Sunday evening with forming Israel's next government, succeeding Benjamin Netanyahu.

Herzog issued the mandate after Eisenkot secured recommendations from 67 Knesset members, compared to 46 for Netanyahu. The decision followed consultations by the president to assess candidate viability amid ongoing coalition-building challenges.

Following the announcement, Eisenkot stated he will invite Knesset factions to join a coalition based on his four previously outlined conditions.
