Irbid, April 21 (Petra) -- Activities of the Green Volunteer Program concluded on Tuesday at the Kufrsoum Girls Center, as part of an initiative implemented by the Ministry of Youth in partnership with UNICEF and in cooperation with Generations For Peace.

The program, delivered by trainer Jamalat Obeidat and attended by 27 young women from the center aged 18 to 24, aimed to strengthen awareness of the importance of environmental volunteer work, highlight climate change issues and their impacts, and equip participants with practical skills that support the protection of natural resources and promote positive environmental behavior.

Its activities included interactive sessions and workshops on sustainability concepts, the importance of green initiatives, and the role of youth in addressing environmental challenges, in addition to hands-on activities that fostered initiative and teamwork among participants.

The program concluded with a cleanup campaign around the center in a practical step to reinforce the values of volunteerism and community service.

In a related development, the Kufrsoum Agricultural Cooperative Association for Pomegranate Producers, represented by the Women's Empowerment Unit at Kufrsoum Secondary School for Girls, held a specialized workshop on soap-making attended by teachers and a group of students.

Trainer Salam Shreideh gave a presentation on soap ingredients and production methods, accompanied by a live practical demonstration for students, helping to develop their hands-on skills and strengthen the concept of application-based learning.

The initiative is part of the cooperative's efforts to support educational activities, empower female students, and enhance their spirit of initiative and vocational skills.

Also on Tuesday, the Agricultural Extension Division at the Bani Kenana Agriculture Directorate, in cooperation with the Saham Women's Charitable Society in the Saham area, held the sixth session of its field school titled "Integrated Management of Olive Trees: Winter Operations." The session forms part of a project aimed at achieving land degradation neutrality through land restoration and sustainable land management programs in the northern governorates.

The session featured practical training on subsurface irrigation operations, in addition to foliar spraying of olive trees, with the aim of providing the nutrients needed for flower set and demonstrating its role in preserving soil and improving both the quantity and quality of production. It also included a segment on the safe use of agricultural pesticides and methods for preparing spray solutions to ensure efficient spraying operations and achieve the best results.

The session is part of the Ministry of Agriculture's field school plan, implemented by the Royal Scientific Society under the supervision of the Directorate of Extension Programs in the agricultural extension sector.
