AMMAN, Aug. 8 (Petra) -- Jordanian football is bracing for a seismic shift as the domestic game enters a brand-new 2026-2027 season headlined by radical format changes, a revamped four-team Super Cup, and a grueling three-stage Pro League battle.

The official draw ceremony tonight at 6:00 PM will map out the landscape for the 74th edition of the Jordanian Pro League and the 43rd edition of the Jordan Super Cup, which enters uncharted territory by expanding into a four-team tournament for the first time in history.

A Four-Way Fight for the Super Cup Shedding its traditional single-match format between the league and cup champions, the newly formatted Super Cup features a blockbuster lineup: reigning Pro League and Jordan Cup champions Al-Hussein, Jordan FA Shield holders and league runners-up Al-Faisaly, third-place finishers Al-Wehdat, and fourth-place Al-Ramtha.

The tournament will run on a high-stakes Final Four format, with an electronic draw determining the semi-final pairings before the victors clash in the championship decider, injecting immediate electricity into the opening curtain-raiser of the season.

Pro League Pushes the Limits with Three-Stage Battle Meanwhile, the Pro League returns for its second consecutive season under the demanding 10-team, three-stage format. Tonight's draw will establish the first-leg schedule -- which flips home and away venues for the second leg -- while a fresh draw will dictate the decisive third stage. In the final phase, fixtures will be hosted at the stadium of the team drawn first, with stadium attendance and ticket revenues split 50-50 between the clubs.

Football legends and former national team stars have weighed in heavily on the structural overhaul. Icon Jaris Tadros believes that expanding the Super Cup creates an elite competitive cauldron that elevates technical quality and supercharges fan turnout.

He praised the three-stage league format for granting clubs a higher volume of matches and vital redemption opportunities, though he cautioned that clubs must secure robust financial backing to sustain player contracts.

Fellow national team legend Badran Al-Shagran echoed the sentiment, emphasizing that the expanded Super Cup grants participating heavyweights an early-season boost in commercial revenue, fan engagement, and high-intensity match practice. However, Al-Shagran stressed that maximizing the value of a longer, multi-stage season requires deep squads and careful physical management to prevent player burnout while meeting mounting financial obligations.

As the balls are drawn tonight, players, clubs, and fans alike prepare for a reimagined domestic campaign designed to push Jordanian football to new competitive heights.
