Planning Minister, ESCWA official discuss expanding cooperation on sustainable development

Amman, July 28 (Petra) – Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Zeina Toukan met Tuesday with UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), Rania Al-Mashat, to discuss expanding cooperation in support of Jordan's sustainable development priorities.

According to a ministry statement, the meeting reviewed cooperation between Jordan and ESCWA, including ongoing technical assistance projects in the areas of social development, statistics and data, digital transformation and artificial intelligence.

Toukan discussed ESCWA's role in supporting member states through technical assistance and capacity-building programs, which contribute to accelerating economic and social development and advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

She praised the strong partnership between Jordan and the commission.

The two sides discussed priorities for future cooperation in line with Jordan's Economic Modernisation Vision and efforts to promote sustainable economic development.
