Tourism Ministry, Jordanian Embassy in Tokyo Mark 80th Independence Anniversary

Tokyo, July 21 (Petra) -- The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the Jordan Tourism Board, in cooperation with the Jordanian Embassy in Tokyo, hosted a reception to mark the 80th anniversary of the Kingdom's independence and the national celebrations, bringing together Japanese officials, diplomats, business representatives and tourism stakeholders.

Speaking at the event, Jordan's Ambassador to Japan, Nasser Shraideh, said the Kingdom has, under the Hashemite leadership, consolidated its position over the past eight decades as a country characterized by security, stability and development. He also highlighted the longstanding relationship between Jordan and Japan and called for continued cooperation across political, economic, social, scientific and cultural fields.

The Japanese government was represented by Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Yohei Onishi. The reception was also attended by senior Japanese officials, members of the Japanese parliament, representatives of investment and tourism companies, civil society organizations, academic and media institutions, members of the diplomatic corps accredited to Japan and members of the Jordanian community.

The event featured presentations promoting Jordan's tourism and investment sectors, with a focus on the Kingdom's archaeological and historical sites listed as UNESCO World Heritage sites, including Petra and Wadi Rum, as well as the Dead Sea and the Baptism Site. The presentations also highlighted Jordan's offerings in adventure, medical, wellness, religious and cultural tourism, supported by its tourism infrastructure.

The Jordan Tourism Board also outlined its efforts to expand Jordan's presence in the Japanese market during a session attended by travel agencies, tour operators and companies specializing in travel between Japan and Jordan. The discussions focused on opportunities to strengthen cooperation, expand travel programs and encourage more Japanese visitors to the Kingdom.
