Arab Union for Tourism Media pushes for digital transformation

Amman, Sept. 27 (Petra) - The Arab Union for Tourism Media noted the growing role of tourism in driving economic growth, creating job opportunities, and fostering cultural exchange on World Tourism Day, observed globally on September 27.
Union President Awni Dawood noted that rapid advances in AI and digital technology are cementing tourism’s role in economic growth.
Dawood said that Arab countries are experiencing a rapid tourism boom supported by substantial investments in infrastructure, hospitality, aviation, and cultural projects, paired with the region’s rich natural and historical heritage.
Looking ahead, he stated the need to leverage AI and modern technologies to elevate tourist experiences and improve service quality while preserving Arab cultural identity. He stressed that media serves as a strategic partner in the tourism industry by shaping brand identity, promoting sustainable practices, and showcasing successful regional initiatives.
Dawood pledged the union’s commitment to expanding cooperation between journalists and tourism institutions, improving regional media content, and positioning the Arab world prominently on the global tourism map.
