Salt, Sept. 20 (Petra) -- Seventy teams from Al-Balqa Applied University (BAU) put their coding and problem-solving skills to the test in a five-hour programming competition designed to prepare students for national and international contests.
The BAU-CPC competition, organized by the Prince Abdullah Bin Ghazi Faculty of Information and Communication Technology through its Problem Solving Club, challenged participants to solve a series of programming problems within strict time limits.
The Jordanian Programmers Association ranked the event as the second-largest university programming competition in Jordan in terms of participation, with 70 teams taking part.
Throughout the competition, students were required to analyze complex problems, develop solutions and produce accurate code under time pressure, while drawing on logical thinking, teamwork and time-management skills.
The contest forms part of a competitive pathway that can take students to the Jordanian Collegiate Programming Contest (JCPC), followed by Arab and African competitions and ultimately international contests.
BAU President Ahmad Fakhri Al-Ajlouni said the strong turnout reflects the university’s pool of programming talent and students’ growing interest in developing skills increasingly sought in the labor market.
He said competitive programming helps students translate academic knowledge into practical capabilities, particularly in analytical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork and decision-making under pressure.
Al-Ajlouni added that the university will continue preparing students for national, regional and international competitions as part of its efforts to develop programmers capable of contributing to innovation and the digital economy.
Acting Dean of the Prince Abdullah Bin Ghazi Faculty of Information and Communication Technology Mohammad Ryalat said the performance of participating teams demonstrated a strong appetite among students for practical and competitive programming experience.
He said the faculty will continue supporting the Problem Solving Club and other initiatives aimed at strengthening students’ technical skills and preparing them for specialized competitions.
