Amman, Sept. 20 (Petra) -- The Ministry of Public Works and Housing has shifted its official correspondence and administrative transactions to the government’s "Tarasol 2" electronic system, a move expected to reduce printing-related costs by nearly 90 percent.
The system, implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, replaces conventional paper-based correspondence with a fully electronic workflow as part of the ministry’s broader digital transformation program.
Tarasol 2 automates the entire correspondence process, from creating a transaction and routing it between directorates and departments to tracking its progress, securing approvals and archiving the final document electronically.
The ministry said the system is intended to shorten processing times, simplify administrative procedures and improve the accuracy of transaction tracking, while strengthening institutional oversight.
Security features include a QR code embedded in official documents, allowing recipients to verify a document electronically and confirm that it matches the original record. The feature is designed to reduce the risk of document tampering or forgery.
The system also supports electronic signatures linked to the government’s Sanad platform, enabling official correspondence and transactions to be authenticated and approved digitally through secure verification mechanisms.
Beyond improving workflow, the ministry expects the transition to significantly reduce its reliance on paper and printed materials. Costs associated with paper, ink, printers and maintenance are projected to fall by around 90 percent.
The ministry said the shift will also support sustainability efforts by reducing resource consumption while improving the efficiency of government operations.
About two weeks into the rollout, the ministry is gathering feedback from employees using Tarasol 2 and reviewing their observations and recommendations to improve the system’s performance and user experience.
