Amman, Jan. 20 (Petra) – Mayor of Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) Committee , Dr. Yousef Shawarbeh, met with Director of Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) office in Jordan, Kim Soyoung, to discuss ways to enhance joint cooperation and work in the urban transport field.

Talking at the meeting on Tuesday, Shawarbeh reviewed Seoul's "pioneering" experience in this field and ways to transfer its capabilities to develop Amman's smart infrastructure that contributes to environmental sustainability and strengthens the public transport system.

Shawarbeh emphasized the "depth" of Jordanian-Korean relations, which are based on joint cooperation and expertise exchange, commending KOICA's role in supporting the municipality's efforts.

Shawarbeh stated the municipality seeks to enhance the public transport system and provide a "flexible" urban transport system by learning from Seoul's experience, which is considered a "leading global model in smart and flexible" urban transport management, and by exchanging expertise with Seoul in this field.

On its goals, Shawarbeh noted cooperation with Seoul aligns with the municipality's vision to benefit from the best global practices and adapt them to the local context of Amman.

In turn, Soyoung expressed her appreciation for the municipality's role and efforts in supporting Amman's development.

Soyoung also noted the agency's eagerness to enhance future cooperation with the municipality, affirming keenness to help Amman benefit from advanced Korean technologies in urban transport, which supports the municipality's vision and plans for developing this sector.

Soyoung affirmed this meeting marks the beginning of a "strong" and ongoing partnership in the coming phase.
