Amman, Dec. 29 (Petra) - The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) spokesperson Nasser Rahamneh said on Monday that municipal field teams handled 139 reports following complaints received by the main emergency operations room in Tela Al-Ali during the low-pressure system currently affecting the Kingdom.
Rahamneh explained that the majority of the reports received by the emergency room originated from the areas of Al-Muqabalain, Wadi As-Seer, and Marj Al-Hamam. A total of 52 reports involved the accumulation and rising levels of rainwater in the streets, a result of intense rainfall, rapid water flow, and soil erosion that delayed the water from reaching drainage systems. These situations were addressed by municipal crews and machinery deployed across the field.
The municipality also received 16 reports concerning water and sewage lines, which were dealt with, along with five reports regarding the formation of potholes and road subsidence, two reports of traffic light malfunctions, and five reports of general power outages. Additionally, eight reports involved structural collapses that are currently being handled, as they require more time to be resolved.
Municipal crews further addressed three reports of blocked stormwater drains, one report of soil erosion, 41 reports of uprooted trees and broken branches or trees at risk of falling, and six reports regarding debris requiring removal. Rahamneh emphasized that the municipality continues to respond to reports as they arrive at the main emergency operations room in Tela Al-Ali through the unified call center at number 102.
