Global tech executives gather in Amman for Discover Digital Jordan 2026

Amman, Sept. 6 (Petra) - The Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship launched the Discover Digital Jordan 2026 event on Sunday through its Jordan Source program.

Running through September 9 across Amman, Aqaba, and Petra, the event will showcase Jordan’s digital ecosystem, highlight its local talent, and establish direct ties between global firms and domestic tech leaders.

Speaking at the launch, Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Sami Smeirat stated that the program offers attendees a firsthand look at the Kingdom's tech sector. He noted that the industry receives direct support from His Majesty King Abdullah II and HRH Crown Prince Al Hussein.

Smeirat pointed to Jordan’s human capital as a core competitive advantage. Jordanian universities graduate over 45,000 students annually, with 22 percent earning ICT degrees, 51 percent of whom are women. He added that the government remains committed to streamlining business procedures, expanding digital investments, and nurturing local talent.

The initiative drew in an international delegation of 15 executives, investors, and business leaders in tech, AI, cybersecurity, software, and semiconductors.

The delegation includes representatives from organizations such as the Maryland Technology Development Corporation (TEDCO), Siemens Digital Industries Software, Singapore Technologies Engineering, Extreme Group, BlockAPT, Silicon Valley Highpoint Capital, and Outsource Accelerator.

On Sunday morning, the delegation toured Amman’s Abdali district, visiting the local offices of Concentrix, Maysalward, and Bigo.

The event’s agenda featured panel discussions on Jordan’s outsourcing capabilities and emerging semiconductor ecosystem, as well as a keynote on innovation by TEDCO CEO Troy Stovall.

Upcoming activities include a field visit to the King Hussein Business Park, home to 300 startups, over 30 multinational firms, and 10,000 jobs, followed by business-to-business meetings and visits to the Aqaba Digital Hub and Aqaba University of Technology.

The initiative comes as foreign direct investment in Jordan reached USD2 billion in 2025, up 25 percent from the previous year to mark its highest level since 2017.

Tech companies operating in the kingdom benefit from sales tax exemptions on IT services and a reduced 5 percent corporate income tax rate on local profits.
