Occupied Jerusalem, Sept. 30 (Petra) -- Hundreds of extremist Jewish settlers stormed the courtyards of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque Al-Haram Al-Sharif in the occupied city of Jerusalem on Wednesday, under heavy protection and guard by Israeli occupation police, on the fifth day of the Jewish holiday of Sukkot.

The Jerusalem Governorate said in a statement that more than 500 extremist settlers stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque, led by former far-right Knesset member Moshe Feiglin, and performed the "Four Species" rituals while carrying what is known as "plant offerings." On Tuesday, 966 terrorist settlers had stormed the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque from the Moroccan Gate (Bab al-Maghariba), under heavy protection from Israeli occupation police, performing Talmudic rituals and prayers and chanting collective songs and clapping inside its courtyards.

Al-Aqsa Mosque courtyards have witnessed an escalation in settler incursions since the start of the Jewish holidays, amid heavy protection from occupation police, coinciding with the imposition of military measures in Jerusalem. Settler incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque are continuing during Sukkot, which began on Sept. 26 and runs until Oct. 2, after the Jewish holidays began with the Hebrew New Year on Sept. 12 and 13, followed by Yom Kippur on Sept. 21 and 22 of the same month.

According to Jerusalem Governorate data, more than 40,661 settlers have stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque from the beginning of the year until the end of August 2026, while the number of orders banishing Jerusalemites from the mosque reached about 800 since the beginning of the year until early September.
