Amman, Jan. 4 (Petra) - President of the Jordan Chamber of Industry and the Amman Chamber of Industry, Fathi Al-Jaghbir, on Sunday discussed with Oman's Ambassador to Jordan, Fahad bin Abdulrahman Al-Ajili ways to enhance bilateral trade and elevate it to reflect the close relations between the two countries and their peoples.
The meeting, attended by Omani Deputy Ambassador Yaqoub bin Badr Al-Raqishi, Amman Chamber of Industry board member Saad Yassin, and Chamber Director General Nael Al-Hussami, focused on the importance of establishing joint private-sector investments based on each country’s comparative advantages in a complementary manner that serves the interests of both sides.
Al-Jaghbir expressed the Amman Chamber of Industry’s readiness to organize a visit by a Jordanian industrial delegation to Oman to explore cooperation opportunities with Omani counterparts and participate in the Sohar Investment Forum 2026, scheduled for February. He also welcomed the prospect of hosting an Omani economic delegation to review Jordan’s investment advantages.
He voiced hope for further development of Jordanian-Omani economic relations in the coming period, noting that bilateral trade remains below expectations. Trade between the two countries in 2024 amounted to around $167 million, with Jordanian exports totaling $108 million and imports standing at $59 million.
For his part, Ambassador Al-Ajili underscored the embassy’s commitment to facilitating procedures for Jordanian exporters, noting that Oman offers an attractive investment climate following the enactment of new laws. He added that investors can benefit from Oman’s strategic geographic location, close to Gulf markets as well as African and Asian markets, in addition to low energy costs.
The two sides agreed to exchange information between the Amman Chamber of Industry and the Omani Embassy on investment opportunities and upcoming trade fairs in both countries in preparation for reciprocal visits by business delegations. The meeting concluded with a tour by the Omani ambassador of the Amman Chamber of Industry’s mural documenting the development of Jordan’s industrial sector.
Jordan’s main exports to Oman include vegetables and fruits, chemical products, and machinery, while imports from Oman are concentrated in plastics and rubber products, metals, and fish.
