Jordan, Palestine Sign MoU to Develop 911 Emergency Response System

Amman, Jan. 5 (Petra) -- The Public Security Directorate (PSD) and the Palestinian Police on Monday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at developing the operational framework of the 911 Emergency Response Center in the State of Palestine.
In a ceremony attended by Minister of Interior Mazin Farrayeh and Palestinian Minister of Interior Ziad Hab al-Reeh, PSD Director General Obaidallah Maaytah and Palestinian Police Chief General Allam al-Saqqa, injked the MoU, which underscored the deep relations and enhanced security and technical cooperation between the two countries.
Farrayeh said the signing is in line with Royal directives to support the Palestinian people in various fields, and underscores the strength of Jordanian-Palestinian relations.
He noted a shared commitment to expanding cooperation, particularly in security and service sectors, adding that the PSD’s Command and Control Center (911) is an advanced model in call management and emergency response according to internationally-recognized professional and technical standards.
For his part, the Palestinian Interior Minister stressed the importance of the MoU in developing the unified emergency response system (911) in Palestine, noting that the partnership with Jordan’s PSD is a qualitative addition in efforts to modernize security and service delivery, enhance emergency response efficiency, and improve services.
Maaytah said the MoU aligns with Royal directives and the PSD’s approach to expand regional cooperation with security agencies in sisterly and friendly countries.
He added that the PSD will transfer its technical and operational expertise and provide support in training, qualification, and capacity-building for personnel at the Palestinian emergency center, to improve response times and service quality in accordance with best practices and modern standards.
Al-Saqqa said the agreement reflects the Palestinian Police’s keenness to enhance the capabilities of its personnel and benefit from Jordan’s leading experience in emergency centers.
He noted that the signing will contribute to developing the infrastructure and technical systems of the 911 center, unifying procedures and operational mechanisms, improving service quality, and strengthening public confidence in the emergency response system.
