Amman, March 31 (Petra) -- Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission, Captain Daifallah Al-Farajat, said air traffic in Jordanian airspace and at Queen Alia International Airport is witnessing a notable recovery, with a gradual return of operational schedules by international and regional airlines. He noted continued growth in flight numbers compared to the early days of the recent developments.
He said several leading airlines have resumed flights to and from Queen Alia International Airport after a temporary suspension. These include carriers from the United Arab Emirates such as Air Arabia (from Abu Dhabi and Sharjah), Emirates, and Etihad Airways; from Saudi Arabia, flynas; from Egypt, Air Cairo and EgyptAir; as well as Ethiopian Airlines, Romania’s TAROM, Oman Air, in addition to national carriers Royal Jordanian, Jordan Aviation, Fly Jordan, and Arab Wings.
Al-Farajat said the figures reflect this positive upward trend. Before the recent events (February 27, 2026), the airport recorded around 220 flights daily, while the current daily average stands at 130 flights. March 27 marked the busiest day since the start of the developments, with 170 flights, indicating steady and accelerating recovery, with current operations reaching 59 percent of normal levels.
Regarding airspace management, Al-Farajat praised the pivotal role of CARC's air traffic control teams, noting that personnel operate around the clock with high professionalism in handling all aircraft transiting Jordanian airspace or arriving and departing from its airports. He added that operations are conducted with precision and high-level coordination with all relevant authorities to ensure the highest standards of safety and security.
He stressed that CARC is closely monitoring regional developments, affirming that Jordanian airspace is managed in line with international standards and that the high readiness of national personnel remains the key factor in maintaining smooth air navigation and the flow of tourism and commercial traffic through Jordan’s air gateway.
