Ramtha, Sep. 22 (Petra) – The "HoverEye" project, incubated at the Center of Excellence for Creative Projects at the Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST), secured 3rd place in the Arduino competition.
Held as part of an event focused on technology, AI innovations, and autonomous aircraft, the contest was hosted by the Amman Chamber of Industry (ACI) under the theme: "Synergy in Innovation" and organized by the Robotics and Automation Society in Jordan.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the university noted that this achievement highlights "presence of its incubated creative and entrepreneurial" projects in specialized technical events and competitions.
The milestone also underscores these projects' role in developing innovative solutions that leverage modern technologies to serve vital sectors, particularly search and rescue and emergency response.
The current enterprise focuses on developing "advanced" search-and-rescue solutions using autonomous aircraft, AI, and computer vision technologies.
It aims to enable access to hazardous or hard-to-reach areas and enhance "efficiency" of search-and-rescue operations through the use of smart systems and autonomous technologies.
Ayham Ibrahim represented the project at the event, alongside team members Rayan Bani Younis, Mo'men Jarrah, and Rama Abdul Ghani.
During the competition, Jarrah secured third place in the Arduino competition, which saw fierce rivalry among students, researchers, engineers, and technology and robotics enthusiasts from various universities and institutions.
In press remarks, Dr. Ahmad Bani Younis, Director of JUST Center of Excellence for Creative Projects, said the participation is a "key" component of the center's efforts aimed at empowering "promising" projects and developing their capabilities.
He added that the true value of such participation aims to expand "professional and technical" networks and enhancing opportunities for projects to advance from the prototype stage to "more advanced" phases of development and implementation, which would transform creative ideas into actionable solutions with tangible impact.
