Amman, Sept. 23 (Petra) -- Nickolay Mladenov, representative of the Gaza Peace Council, on Wednesday outlined a comprehensive plan featuring a roadmap for disarmament, the formation of a Palestinian transitional administration, and the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip to pave the way for a full Israeli military withdrawal.
Speaking at a news conference during a Gaza Peace Council meeting, Mladenov said joint efforts with mediators from Egypt, Turkey, and Qatar secured commitments to manage the transition and oversee weapons surrender procedures under a structured roadmap tied to a UN Security Council resolution and a 20-point plan, according to Agence France-Presse (AFP).
Mladenov stated that the "National Committee" is now prepared to assume administrative control over Gaza, noting that commissioners and field teams have completed training to progressively take over public services, financial administration, and security functions.
Ali Shaath, head of the Palestinian committee tasked with managing Gaza, said the group is focused on rebuilding the enclave, prioritizing conditions that allow children to return to school and resume their education.
Shaath revealed an urgent action plan comprising 71 relief and development programs spanning a six-month priority phase aimed at addressing immediate needs and initiating comprehensive recovery efforts.
Meanwhile, a representative for the military arm of the Civil-Military Coordination Council in Gaza detailed the operational framework for the "Peace Enforcement Force" in the enclave, stating that field operations will be executed on a phased, sector-by-sector basis.
The military official noted that initial operations will target weapons, tunnels, and military infrastructure under the umbrella of the National Committee to facilitate the complete transfer of administrative control. The transfer of control will coincide with the withdrawal of Israeli forces, alongside an ongoing field verification process that may take an extended period to complete.
