New York, September 23 (Petra) – Syrian President Ahmed Sharaa said Syria has "unified from north to south, consolidated its weapons, rebuilt its security institutions and launched reconstruction and investment projects." Addressing the UN General Assembly on Wednesday, Sharaa said Syria's national principles are becoming increasingly entrenched "through the force of law and the will of the people." He said that the Golan Heights "will remain Syrian territory," and that all annexation measures are null and void under UN Security Council Resolution 497.

Sharaa rejected what he described as ongoing "Israeli violations" against Syria, as well as Israel's attempts to impose a fait accompli and its regional actions, which he said undermine security and stability.

He said that Syria is committed to the 1974 Disengagement of Forces Agreement, saying a "historic opportunity for peace" exists for those who seek it a just peace that preserves the rights of all.
