Salt, Oct. 3 (Petra) -- Senator Haifa Al-Najjar said Jordanian women are an essential partner in shaping the future and a fundamental pillar in the comprehensive national modernization process.
Speaking at the "Jordanian Women: A Core Pillar of the National Modernization Project" conference, organized by the Jordanian National Youth Dialogue Forum in partnership with the Jordanian Women's Union in Balqa on Saturday, Al-Najjar added that Jordanian women have never been on the margins of the nation's journey but have been an essential partner in building the family and society and in the fields of education, work, culture, public service, and national action. She affirmed that the Jordanian experience has, over many years, produced effective female models who have contributed to serving society and advancing the state's journey.
She noted that women's presence in public life is no longer linked to the traditional role but has become an integral part of the construction process, decision-making, and participation in shaping Jordan's future.
Al-Najjar pointed out that Jordanians, men and women, are equal in rights and duties under the latest constitutional amendment, which is an indicator of the national decision that brought together conscious political leadership, civil society that worked sincerely, a government working within the directives of His Majesty the King and the Crown Prince, and a private sector working with all its capabilities to achieve the desired economic transformation. She explained that His Majesty the King, through the political and economic modernization initiative, called for a real transformation.
For her part, Senator Suad Al-Jundi said this meeting addresses the integration of economic, political, and administrative modernization paths, with women at the center of this project led by His Majesty King Abdullah II. When these paths integrate, women's competence will turn into job opportunities, and job opportunities will turn into income that enhances their ability to participate politically and in decision-making.
For her part, Senator Ihsan Barakat said the Jordanian Constitution stipulates that the state shall support women's effective participation in building Jordanian society and in all governorates, noting what is required of us as good citizens in society, who desire to modernize and build it and its policies in a manner consistent with our system, customs, and morals.
For his part, Forum President Seif Al-Islam Bani Mustafa noted that His Majesty the King stressed the importance of women's and youth's participation in political and partisan life and decision-making and that their role be vital and effective.
President of the Women's Union in Balqa Lamia Abu Rumman said Jordanian women have never been on the margins of the nation's journey but have been an essential partner in building the family and society and in the fields of work, education, public service, and national action.
She noted that the role of women's and community institutions is not limited to women but is represented in turning aspirations into initiatives, needs into solutions, and ambition into real and responsible participation.
She affirmed that the Women's Union in Balqa Governorate will remain a space for dialogue, work, and partnership, a voice for Jordanian women, and a supporter of every national effort that contributes to building a more participatory, just, and progressive Jordan.
