Amman, March 26 (Petra)-- Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) has launched a new international logistics corridor via freight trains, connecting King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam, King Fahd Industrial Port in Jubail, and Jubail Commercial Port with the Al-Haditha border crossing.

The initiative strengthens direct connectivity with Jordan and northern regions of the Kingdom, boosting regional trade through a high-efficiency overland route.

SAR said that the new container transport service across its rail network from Eastern Province ports to Al-Haditha will open direct routes to Jordan and neighboring northern markets. The move is expected to support exports and re-exports through a more efficient and reliable transport system, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) on Thursday.

The railway corridor enables customers to move goods from Eastern ports to Al-Haditha and onward to Jordan and northern destinations, as well as in the reverse direction back to the ports.

This enhances supply chain flexibility and integration, while significantly reducing transit times. The journey, which spans more than 1,700 kilometers, will take roughly half the time compared to traditional road freight. Each train is capable of carrying more than 400 standard containers, improving both speed and capacity.

SAR emphasized that the project will deliver direct logistical benefits, including shorter transit times and the removal of thousands of trucks from roads. This is expected to improve infrastructure quality, enhance road safety, and reduce carbon emissions.

The initiative aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, aiming to strengthen multimodal integration and improve the efficiency of logistics services.

It is worth noting that SAR operates an integrated rail network extending over 5,500 kilometers, providing passenger and freight transport services, including minerals. In 2025, SAR transported more than 14 million passengers and over 30 million tons of minerals and goods, reinforcing connectivity between ports, logistics hubs, and production centers across the Kingdom.
