Amman, March 18 (Petra) -- The United Arab Emirates has confirmed its effective and highly prepared response to recent unjustified Iranian attacks targeting its territory.
A report issued by the UAE Embassy in Amman stated that advanced air defense systems successfully intercepted the vast majority of missiles and drones, helping to minimize human and material losses.
The report indicated that more than 2,001 missiles and drones were targeted by the UAE’s multi-layered defense systems, which provide comprehensive protection for the country’s airspace. The interceptions resulted in two fatalities and six injuries among UAE forces, while 314 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles, and 1,672 drones were detected as of March 17, 2026, with limited damage to civilian property.
The UAE emphasized the continuation of normal life, with national institutions operating around the clock, tourism facilities receiving visitors, and companies maintaining the highest safety standards. More than 200 nationalities live in the country in a secure and harmonious environment.
On the international front, the UAE engaged in intensive diplomatic efforts, leading to the adoption of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817 on March 11, 2026, which condemned the Iranian attacks, affirmed Iran’s responsibility for all damages and losses resulting from its aggression, and called for their immediate cessation. The international community, represented by 126 countries and organizations, expressed deep concern over the attacks.
Economically, the UAE maintained financial and economic stability while continuing to implement economic diversification plans and long-term investments. The total net government assets reached 184% of GDP, and the banking sector held assets of 5.42 trillion dirhams, with a budget surplus of 5.6% over the past five years. Standard & Poor’s confirmed the UAE’s credit rating at AA/A-1+ with a stable outlook, while the country ranks third globally in sovereign wealth fund assets at $2.49 trillion.
The UAE also welcomed more than 1.4 million passengers between March 1 and 12, with aviation, hotels, and resorts continuing operations under approved safety measures. The state covered the costs of accommodating travelers affected by flight delays.
Through these integrated measures, the UAE reaffirms its commitment to protecting the security of its citizens, residents, and visitors and ensuring national stability in the face of regional challenges.
