Zarqa, Oct. 3 (Petra) -- Participants in a dialogue session organized by the King Abdullah II Cultural Center in Zarqa on Saturday discussed the content of the royal speech before the United Nations General Assembly and the political and diplomatic messages and visions it contained regarding regional and international issues, with the participation of an elite group of politicians, academics, and media figures.
The speakers addressed the implications of the speech amid the political transformations the region is witnessing and the approaches it presented toward Arab issues, foremost among them the Palestinian cause, along with its affirmation of the constants of the Jordanian position and its priorities in protecting national interests and defending regional security and stability.
Senator Omar Al-Ayasra affirmed that the royal speech was characterized by the depth of its content and the breadth of its political messages, addressing not only the Arab and regional environment but also the international community in all its components, placing the region's issues at the heart of international attention and shedding light on the challenges facing security and stability.
He said the importance of the speech lies in its ability to present the Jordanian vision on regional issues within a broad international framework and to affirm the Kingdom's constants and positions on pivotal files, noting that Jordanian foreign policy plays a pivotal role in protecting national interests and enhancing security and stability through an effective diplomatic presence and the ability to convey the Jordanian position in international forums.
Al-Ayasra added that Jordan's presence on the international scene is linked to the role the Kingdom plays in dealing with the region's crises, especially the Palestinian cause, stressing the importance of the continuation of Jordan's political and diplomatic presence in raising Arab issues and defending the rights and constants on which Jordanian positions are based.
For his part, Professor of Political Science at Hashemite University Jamal Al-Shalabi said the royal speech returned the Palestinian cause and Arab issues to the forefront of international attention and presented them as central files that cannot be bypassed in any political approach addressing the region's future, security, and stability.
He added that the speech contributed to stimulating international political discussion on the region's files and placed the Palestinian cause at the forefront of issues the international community must address, noting that the strength of the royal message was evident in the clarity of the Jordanian position toward regional developments, adherence to national and pan-Arab constants, and pushing toward addressing the roots of crises rather than merely dealing with their consequences.
Al-Shalabi noted that the speech carried political dimensions beyond describing the current reality by presenting a Jordanian vision for the region's future and stressing the need for the international community to assume its responsibilities in addressing crises and conflicts that threaten security and stability, especially the Palestinian cause.
The session, moderated by media figure Rasha Asfour and attended by Director of the Zarqa Culture Directorate Mohammad Al-Zoubi and a number of representatives of cultural bodies, the local community, and interested parties, included interventions and discussions focused on the implications of the speech and its political and diplomatic repercussions, the importance of the continuation of Jordan's presence in international forums, the role of Jordanian diplomacy in protecting national and pan-Arab constants and defending Arab causes, and enhancing Jordan's presence in the international discussion on the region's future.
