Amman, Oct. 26 (Petra) -- Jordan's Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission and Oman Authority for Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance of Education on Monday discussed during a virtual meeting ways to enhance cooperation and exchange expertise in school education quality assurance.
The Jordanian side aims to draw on Oman's experience in evaluating school performance and developing quality standards, which will support the Commission's efforts to expand its work and build an integrated system for education quality assurance and better outcomes.
Commission President Dhafer Sarayreh, Vice President Saad Bani Mohammad, Assistant to the President Feda Tamimi and Zaid Bashaireh took part, along with specialists and officials from the two countries.
Sarayreh stressed the need to learn about the Omani experience and benefit from its practical expertise in school performance evaluation. He said the Commission is developing proposed standards and indicators for evaluating school education quality, in line with the nature of Jordan's education system and the diversity and scope of its institutions.
Expanding the Commission's work to cover government, private, and international schools requires drawing on Arab and international experiences and consulting experts and stakeholders, he said.
It also requires a national model based on clear standards and practical, applicable procedures that take into account the specific nature and needs of school education.
Thuraya Alhosni, director general of the School Education Quality Assurance Center at the Omani authority, gave a presentation on Oman's experience in building a school performance evaluation system and developing its framework, standards and guidelines.
She outlined the stages of preparing the system, which drew on international studies and experiences and consultation with stakeholders and experts. The standards were then applied in schools across several governorates, and feedback from teachers and school leaders was collected to make improvements.
